Come Friday, February 3 for our “Discover the Dulcimer” Open House at the Woodshed from 11:30-1:00! Heidi Muller will play some of her own instruments and give a hands-on demonstration helping visitors to try out student dulcimers. They're easy to play! Children, parents and adults of all ages are invited. Come find out what a dulcimer is, and enjoy some light refreshments. If you get inspired, sign up for one of our new Dulcimer Classes. Pre-registration is required; you may register in person on Feb. 3, online at the WVMA website or by mail. The following classes will be offered:
Beginners’ Dulcimer for Adults begins Tuesday, February 7 - choose either a daytime class from 1:30 to 3:00 or an evening class from 6:00 to 7:30. Classes will run for six weeks through March 13. Cost is $95 including handouts. A limited number of rental dulcimers are available but must be reserved in advance. There will also be dulcimers available for purchase.
Dulcimer Class for Kids will start on Friday, February 10 from 11:15 to 12:00 noon. Recommended ages are 7 to 12. The class will run for five Fridays through March 16. Student dulcimers can be checked out for the duration of the class by students’ parents and can be purchased if desired. The cost of the class series is $30.00. A few scholarships may be available; contact Heidi Muller if this might make it more likely that a child could attend.
If you wish to purchase or rent a dulcimer, or have any other questions about registration or class, please contact Heidi Muller at

Hard to believe we’re already halfway through the 2011-2012 Tunesmith Night season! Record crowds and excellent songwriting has been the norm so far, and we don’t anticipate that changing any time soon! February’s show will feature Charlie Sutton from Moscow, Idaho, Heidi Muller, formerly from Charleston, West Virginia and now from Wallowa County, and Brent Smith, La Grande, Oregon.
